Wismec Reuleaux RXmini Starter Kit Review

The Wismec Reuleaux series is one of the most, if not the most popular box mods on the market today. The Wismec Reuleaux Box Mods offer the user tons of features at an affordable price. Not to mention, it began the trend of triple 18650 box mods we saw back in late 2015.

Now, Wismec has released their first mini box mod kit, the Wismec Reuleaux RXmini Starter Kit! And I was lucky enough to get an opportunity to review it.

Firstly, I would like to thank Heaven Gifts for sending me Reuleaux RXmini for the purposes of this review. I will go over my first impressions, usage, performance, pros and cons and conclude with telling you whether or not I recommend this kit!

Out of the Box

When I first received this product, I noticed the familiar packaging. This is relatively the same packaging Wismec uses for their original Reuleaux, which is certainly not a bad thing. With their packaging, everything in the box is secure, which is great since it gives you a peace of mind when it's in transit.

Once you slide open the packaging, you are greeted with the Wismec RXmini and the Reux Mini tank. Immediately, I noticed how similar this device was to the original, which is definitely a pro since the Reuleaux is known for being ergonomic. However, since RXmini is much smaller in size, it has a different feeling to it altogether, but familiar at the same time.

The Reux Mini tank is also very compact in design, and looks great on the Reuleaux RXmini. Underneath the RXmini Kit is where the rest of what this kit includes. There you'll find a micro USB cable, an additional coil head for the Reux Mini, a bag of spare parts, an additional sticker for the RXmini, and a user manual.

The Reuleaux RXmini was comfortable to hold right away. Like said previously, it feels very familiar to the original full sized version, but just smaller. If you're used to holding the Reuleaux RX200 or RX200S, this will feel right at home.

A pro to be mentioned right away is the screen size. The screen is pretty much the same as the Realeaux RX200S. The screen itself is bright and it's extremely easy to see all of the information.

However, a con to be mentioned right away is that the wattage up and down buttons are on the bottom of the device. The micro USB port is on the front of RXmini, which is what I assume is what took the place of the wattage up and down buttons. I personally prefer all of the buttons on my device to be on front or side, so for me, this was a con.

The Reuleaux RXmini does feature a 2100 mAh internal battery, which isn't large by any means, but for the size of this device, I think it's just fine. In addition, I do like the Jaybo logo on the button, I do think it's a nice touch to the overall aesthetics. Also, this device does has a maximum wattage output of 80w, which I think is plenty, especially for a device this size.

The Reux Mini tank is pretty small as well, and when it's with Reuleaux RXmini, it looks like a match made in heaven. The tank itself, to me, is the perfect size for a mini device. The design of this atomizer is fairly simple, but the airflow design is quite unique. The airflow is kind of hidden, and it is located at the bottom.

This tank does include a wide bore delrin 510 drip tip, and is comfortable. Since this atomizer is compatible with 510 drip tips, you can use your own preferred 510 drip tips, which is definitely a huge pro to the Reux Mini!

Something else worth mentioning with this tank is that it came free of machine oil, so one rinse with warm water and this tank was good to go!

Overall, my first impressions writing this Wismec RXmini review were mostly positive! This device feels incredibly familiar in hand, and just looks great, especially with the Reux Mini sitting on top.

Using RXmini

I found myself reaching to use this Wismec device quite often over time since it was simple to use, and was comfortable to hold. RXmini was just a reliable vape, and it was a sleek and compact setup I could just grab on the go.

Firstly, I do want to mention that the sticker on the back of the RXmini has held up just fine over time. I find no need to take it off, and change it as it looks great as is. It is a pro that they do include an extra sticker if you wanted to change it or if the original gets damaged.

Five clicks will turn the RXmini on, and it greets you with a very familiar interface. I won't go into too much detail about the interface itself, but I do want to say it is quite simple to go through, which is great for beginners. 3 clicks will allow you to change the mode it is in, and you can use the wattage up and down buttons to navigate from there. If you're familiar with the Wismec RX200S, then this will be easy for you since it is relatively the same.

The screen is rather large as well, especially considering how small Reuleaux RXmini is. This is definitely a pro, since the screen is just easy to see, and just looks great.

However, even though navigating through the interface is simple and quick, the fact that the wattage up and down buttons are on the bottom made this task a bit more time consuming. The buttons are indented, which is great since it will not be accidentally pressed when sitting on a flat surface, but you do need to use your fingernail in order to actually press the buttons.

I just found a wattage I preferred for the Reux Mini Tank and just left it at this wattage, and did not bother changing it afterwards. This may not be the biggest con, but is still something definitely worth mentioning.

Wismec RXmini 2

The Wismec Reuleaux RXmini would last me at least 3 hours before needing to recharge when vaping at about 60w, which is pretty good considering the size and battery size. It does take about 2 hours or so to fully charge from about 10% battery life remaining. It does show you how much is charged when you are charging it, so when it's finished charging, you can easily see when it's ready to be used again.

I do want to mention that only 22mm diameter and under atomizers will sit flush on the RXmini. This is definitely a con, since there's a ton of 24mm and 25mm atomizers on the market today.

Even some mini tanks such as the Augvape Merlin Mini RTA have an overall diameter of 24mm, so I don't see why Wismec would design this device to have only 22mm diameter and under atomizers sit flush, especially considering there is quite a bit of room on the top of the device where the 510 could have been moved. I'm not entirely sure if this is possible, but this is something definitely worth mentioning.

Overall, using the Reuleaux RXmini Kit from Wismec was great. Like said previously, I constantly reached for this device even with the 2 cons mentioned as it was just comfortable and reliable.

Performance

The performance of the Wismec Reuleaux RXmini Kit was excellent! I loved how this device performed overall as it provided me with a consistent vape every single time. This mini box mod has a maximum wattage output of 80w, and it does feel like an actual 80w which is definitely a pro.

Honestly, if you're going to vape this device at 80w, don't expect long battery life as you will just plow through your battery in probably under 2 hours for sure, maybe even less. I typically used RXmini between 40w and 50w, especially with the Reux Mini tank.

The Wismec Reuleaux RXmini does feature temperature control for Ni200, Ti and SS. It also features a TCR mode, so you can easily fine tune your vape experience! I did test the SS temperature control as well as the TCR mode and both of them worked perfectly. I did not test Ni200 or Ti since I no longer vape these wire materials, but I'm sure it would work fine especially considering my experiences and how good this chipset is.

The minimum firing resistance in TC mode is 0.05 ohm, so you can build quite low with this device. I do not recommend this, since the RXmini can only offer 80w maximum. In addition, the minimum firing resistance in standard wattage mode is 0.1 ohm, which is great as well.

When vaping Reuleaux RXmini, it fires right away once the fire button is pressed! This is definitely a pro, as I know many vapers hate when there is a delay when pressing the fire button. Also, the RXmini is firmware upgradeable, so you will always be up to date with it! This is definitely another pro to be mentioned, as many vapers expect this feature in most newer regulated box mods.

I do want to mention that this Wismec device does feature a preheat mode already built-in without needing to do a firmware update. I did not really find myself using it with this Reux Mini, but it did come in handy with other atomizers that had a Clapton coil build, which have a slight ramp up. It does work great, and is definitely a nice feature to have.

The performance of the Reux Mini Tank was also solid. This kit does include two 0.2 ohm coils, which is a pro for sure. I do appreciate when a sub ohm tank includes more than one coil, since there's always a possibility that one coil may not work or have an issue, so having an extra is always a good thing.

Wismec RXmini 3

The Reux Mini tank has a 2ml e-liquid capacity, and features a top fill design. When filling this tank I have noticed that you do have to be careful with the top fill design. There were times when I would start to unscrew the top fill, but the entire tank would start to unscrew. When using the top fill design, be sure to hold the glass section, and then proceed to unscrew the top fill. When doing this, it resolved this issue, but it still is a con.

The included 0.2 ohm coil heads performed well, and I preferred to vape them between 45w and 60w. At this wattage setting, I got a satisfying vape experience every time I took a vape. Also, the airflow on this tank is a bit on the restrictive side, which is something I personally prefer. However, vapers who love wide open airflow may not like this tank due to this.

I typically vaped Reux mini tank with the airflow wide open, as it does give a nice restriction. In addition, the airflow is nice and smooth. If you do close the airflow, you get a bit more flavor, and a slightly warmer vape. It was a bit too restrictive for me, but still a good vape nonetheless. Adjusting the airflow is fairly easy as well. It does stop when it is fully open and fully closed, which is definitely a pro.

Something else worth mentioning is that there was almost no break in time with these coils. Almost right away I got full on flavor, which is certainly a pro. These Wismec 0.2 ohm coils are excellent!

Reux mini can go through e-liquid pretty quickly, and does get a bit warm when vaping at higher wattages. I would typically need to refill this tank about every hour and a half or so when vaping often. However, if I wasn't chain vaping, I could easily go a few hours before needing to refill. It only has a 2ml e-liquid capacity, so this is to be expected.

Overall, the flavor and vapor production from the Reux Mini Tank was excellent. At just 50w to 60w, I was getting an excellent vape experience. The airflow was nice and smooth, and there was hardly anything to complain about with this sub ohm tank.

All in all, the performance of this entire mini kit from Wismec was stellar! It was a vape setup I was constantly reaching for when deciding what to take out of the house. The battery lasted for a sufficient amount of time given its size and battery capacity.

If you're looking for a second opinion about this kit, here's another Wismec RXmini review I am quite fond of:

Conclusion

Overall, the Wismec Reuleaux RXmini Kit is a great mini vape starter kit. It is simple to use, and offers the user tons of features such as temperature control, preheat function, and you can even add your own logo! Not to mention, 80w is plenty of power for a device of this size!

Even though RXmini does have some slight cons to it, they really aren't deal breaking whatsoever. The overall performance of this kit is incredible, and the flavor you get from the Reux Mini is just stellar. Honestly, it's just a kit I can just grab on the go, and know that it'll work.

Wismec RXmini 4

I know for sure vapers who love the original Wismec Reuleaux Box Mods will absolutely love this mini version. It's everything you love about the original, but in a much smaller form factor.

If you're in the market for a new vape starter kit, or looking for a compact kit for on the go, then the Wismec Reuleaux RXmini Kit is something I can easily recommend!
