Eleaf iStick 20W Box Mod Kit Review (plus $26.69 Deal)

Eleaf iStick 20

Mini 20w Box Mod

Here’s a great deal on the original Eleaf iStick 20w from Mt. Baker vapor. Get one for only $26.69 when you use coupon code “Beefcake11” for 11% off.

The Eleaf iStick packs a lot of cool features in a compact size and can still output up to 20 watts in variable wattage mode and 3 – 5.5 volts in variable voltage mode. The mod has a bright OLED screen that displays output power, battery level, and atomizer resistance. Above the screen is a square firing switch and below the screen you will find two triangle buttons to make adjustments on the device.

Powering the iStick is a larger 2200mah Li-ion battery that will last all day long. The battery can be charged via a mini USB port on the base of the device. I don’t really understand why they would give the name “iStick” to a box mod, it really doesn’t look like a stick.

This would be the perfect “out on the town” e-cigarette or for traveling. The only major downside I saw on this mod was the minimum 1 ohm atomizer resistance, if you into sub-om builds this isn’t the device for you.

I’ve had one of these for awhile now and I think it’s great. It looks good and fit’s nicely in my pocket so taking it with me isn’t a problem. The buttons all feel good and all the functions work. It also has a great battery life and will last me for 1.5 to 2 days. It took me awhile to figure out that you have to click the firing button quickly 3 times to switch from variable voltage to variable wattage. I highly recommend this e-cigarette.

Just bought one myself, actually looks to be a MVP killer with the more ergonomic style.
Whats being sold I think on some of these Ebay sites and I’m not really clear yet and really none are responding to an inquiry about whether these Isticks they are selling are the complete kit or the express.
The one I bought comes with a charging usb and a 510 to Ego connector.
But really 2600 mAH MVP or 2200mAH Istick, not a lot of difference there but this design is a lot compared to the MVP, I use the MVP as my daily walk around and it gets tiresome so this is real sweet IMO.

By the way Mr. N. this guy at VapNW who is just up the street from me jacked his price up once you, GotSmoke, and Vapor Joe ran his site and his Istick for $31.99, jumped it up to $39.99 after about 12 hours I believe.
This is typical of this guy once he gets your attention.
I just got a refund back from this company on a pre-order for the Sigelei 100 Watt Raptor Box Mod Dual after waiting for 2 months, this guy should be banished from all of you guys who do these deals, check GotSmoke and V. Joe both aren’t to happy about this guy.
Just thought I’d mention it, like to watch out for you pal, you bring me a lot of good deals and I hate it when I see vendors pull this crap on all of you.

I ordered one today (Thursday) from VapNW off eBay and I’ll have it on Monday. It was 35.99 and included the ego adapter. Everyone I saw with a 31-32.00 pre-order price didn’t include it so it seemed like a wash to me.

  • G.... 09/23/2014

LMAOF, wow check out the other guy, he jumped his to $99.99, LOL
Maybe you all need to stop posting Ebay…LOL

Been testing this Istick and discovered it WILL NOT down regulate from a fully charged battery, so a fully charged Istick at 4.2v you can’t set it to 3.8v and expect it to down regulate it doesn’t..!
You vape at a full 4.2v until it gets to about 3.6v then you can up regulate to 3.8v.
This wasn’t as advertised and makes a big difference for some, like me, I thought something wasn’t right and something isn’t, real disappointment but thought I’d mention this.
Also everyone who has one of these Isticks and also uses 510/ego adapters in any of their other applications have quickly realized that this Istick came with and is without a doubt the best 510/ego adapter ever seen.
I did find another adapter that is very close but still falls short of the quality of this Eleaf adapter and it’s made by Cisco and for sale for $10, ya very high but makes for a very clean setup when compared to traditional adapters, sold here if your into the Eleaf adapter and wanted more similar to it, http://www.avidvaper.com/510-to-ego-adapter/
Kind of a bummer about not down regulating, but all in all it just means change, higher ohms, thicker juice, or you just really like really hot burnt tasting juice, well then you’ll be fine.
More accurate disclosure would have prevented me anyhow from buying one of these, but it is not a bad product all in all.
By the way Mr. N, thank you for the email thanking me for the heads up I sent you the other day on the 100 watt box at 101, they sold out nearly instantly thank you pal, your always on my radar when I see a great deals, like to help you out when possible, also don’t really expect you to post this comment but maybe one of your assistants can’t remember her name but shes good can do a review on this issue, as I see it anyhow, just a thought pal,

      Here is my little experience:
Bought kanger subtank and a 30w Cloupor mini. the Cloupor burned from a board circuit when i was charging it from samsung car mobile charger. I got freaked and through the subtank and the mod from car window and got lucky when subtank did not fracture. The dealer checked both the mod and the 18650 LG battery and found them both working although my cloupor mod was now smelling burned circuits and with very obvious melt down case near the up- button inside the battery chamber. Next day I bought a Sigelei 30w mod and a new samsung baterry and had a lot of easy burnt cotton issues with very sensitive watt changes ( either little smoke and no burn, or more smoke and bitter cotton taste and coil noise). When i returned to my clopur dealer He replaced the clopur mod with a used istick 20w (that was the best deal i could get because no authorized dealers in my country Egypt). The surprizing thing is that this little very cheaper and light weight mod performed much much superior than my sigelei or cloupor mods and all you have to do is to set it to its minimum watt Which is around 6.5W and enjoy a powrful cloud with nice taste! I am so pleased with its perfomance to the point that i am thinking to sell my sigelli mod.

Saw your question on the email notice but don’t see it here, answer yes others started noticing after I mentioned something on the VUGF, I’ve been running all sorts of builds and own two of these and it’s the same results, after I mentioned I thought something wasn’t right with the power regulating as I’m usually vaping my own juice which is thinner, at like 3.8 v and this device just seemed awful hot, well really hot, then folks started taking notice and one guy contacted Eleaf I guess and they confirmed it doesn’t down regulate truth I don’t know but a fella on forum has some real hard specs and it’s bad.
Well just found out I am dead on, have a message to Pbusardo to run this on his equipment so will get some hard facts soon I expect,
You can read through some of the conversation here, I’m Sparks and started this conversation about last week I think and the stats are coming in and it looks bad,
Well been looking things over and appears to be a smoking gun here,
    http://vapingunderground.com/threads/eleaf-istick-compact-20w-box-mod.17063/page-6
It goes back and starts with my post like I said last week maybe 3 pages of so back from this link. Sorry was going back and forth checking things before sending this to you..

  • mary 11/03/2014

I am just so confused by it all .i havent a clue about omhs and stuff havent been vaping long since september.but good side havent touched the cigs since then either.have 3 innokin vv3 love them but charging all the time ordered istick but reading these reviews i dont understand.the tec stuff.

    • Elizabeth 03/29/2015

Good for you Mary! Anything that works right? I know a lot about most of this but I just ordered the eleaf I stick 20 watt myself. I also got a couple of Nautilus mini tanks and some extra coils. I have disabled hands so I cannot rebuild, meaning make my own coils and wicks. So I can’t drip and I don’t really care to. I am more one to want to fill a tank and vape! Read all that you can, watch youtube videos, I recommend grimmgreen and find somebody that you can talk to who is knowledgeable.it is an exciting time to be a new vaper!! But, the I stick combo with the Nautilus mini tank is loved by many including myself cheers! you can find me on Facebook if you’d like to at Elizabeth Shaw in Portland Maine. 🙂

      • Elizabeth 03/29/2015

correction. I could drip with a bridgeless atomizer but I just choose not to. It just isn’t my style having to have juice beside me all the time.

  • evanpaul 11/09/2014

Does anyone know if you change out the battery on the istick or is the built-in battery all you have?

  • Elizabeth 11/21/2014

It’s stopped being able to go past -5 watts for me depending on the tank attached ( both nautilus). One tank can get to 14.3 watts the other only at 12 and it keeps jumping down to 6.2 I have no idea why. Anyone got a trick to fix this?

  • William 11/22/2014

    Elizabeth.

It sounds like you are in variable voltage mode. If so, the displayed wattage will change depending on the atomizer resistance.

Make sure you are in wattage mode.

  • Chuck 11/23/2014

I have had mine for 3 weeks. The USB charger broke off and pushed up inside the body. The manufacturer has yet to contact me.

  • Andrew 11/28/2014

Can I use RDA with that?

  • turtleman777 12/01/2014

The VC10 code for VaporDNA doesnt work and the 10% off code for registering for their newsletter doesnt work either :/

  • Keith 12/20/2014

I bought one of these a couple of months back from another site for when i’m driving.
I just set up a Fogger mini for my wife’s Hanna clone and had it on my iStick to test the build.

I handed it to my wife and she thought I was giving her the iStick too, I couldn’t take it back she looked so happy lol, so I ordered the Fuchsia one for her from here.

I haven’t had any issues with mine, I just set the Watts lower than I would on other devices, example 12 watt instead of 14 on my Hanna. Can’t wait for my wife’s to arrive, I want my blue one back lol Happy vaping!

  • Colleen 12/22/2014

Can you use the Kanger protank3 with this?

  • Bryan 12/24/2014

I can’t vape when I press the button it keeps saying protection. How can I fix this or do I need to buy another?

  • Marty 12/31/2014

Nathan, i have one and used it with the gladious tank, then used the mutationx rda with it when i tried going back to the gladious it doesnt read the ohms and says no atomizer do u know why? Thanks in advance!

  • Virgie sexton 01/09/2015

Will the new Kanger subtank work on this? I am wanting a good box mod not over 50oms that will work the new kanger subtank. But I don’t want to spend a bunch of money.

    • JP 02/18/2015

I am using the subtank mini with mine right now until my 50w arrives. It works wonderfully, but you can only use the OCC 1.2 ohm coils with it, or build your own coils higher than 1 ohm. You cannot use the other .5 ohm coil that also comes with the tank.

  • Elizabeth 04/04/2015

I am so happy for you! I lived in Morocco for a time and found the same problem with authorized dealers. I have tried many mods and there are many more I’m going to get, I just ordered the Ego One. But I am very happy that you can sleep well. keep vaping my friend. please excuse any typos as I must voice type. 🙂 Please let me know if I can help you in any way to find vape gear.

  • Nancy Wright 04/14/2015

I’m wanting to stop smoking. What do I start with and why can’t you get a kit with everything like the top piece and the battery. I’m new to this just need some help.

  • Elizabeth 04/15/2015

yeah, Gear Best, right! 6 weeks later and I am still waiting for the I stick I ordered. Thank God that I purchased one from California. 🙁

  • Trevor 04/16/2015

Anyone know how long shipping usually takes from gearbest? I have had some bad experiences from orders coming from china, anywhere between 3weeks-2months- never showing up 🙁

  • Don Brown 04/25/2015

I love my Istick 20 watt Mod. Its compact, comfortable, and the battery lasts for days. If your not Sub ohming than than this is the Mod for you. It wont work on low ohm coil but if you’re dripping or using something like the Kanger Protank 2 or 3 it works great.

  • Katie 07/07/2015

I’m new to using a box mod….what voltage and wattage would you suggest to a beginner box mod user? I’m not new to vaping, I have been using the pen vaporizers, but I wanted to try a box mod and see how it worked out for me.

  • Elizabeth 07/08/2015

Hi, I use only box mods and the I stick 20 watt was one of my first devices. I would suggest starting at 10 watts and move up from there to find where it tastes best to you. You can go right up to the 20 watts using 1 watt increments and you will know when you find your sweet spot. 🙂 Mine is 15 watts but everybody is different. Good luck to you it’s an entirely different world than using a pen style!
